On April 11, Slavic Baptist Church of West Sacramento had a joyful church service during which Andrey Zabolotnyy was ordained as a deacon.
He is young, full of strength and energy to serve the Risen One, and has an advanced theological degree. Even now, he is active in serving the youth, young families, and oversees the English services of the church. Technically, Andrey is one of the young spiritual leaders of the church, and that is a great blessing! He is also teaching baptism class of the English-speaking brothers and sisters. Judging by the spiritual gifts that this brother has, I think that the deacon’s ministry will be a time of preparation for him for greater responsibility in church ministry.
Andrey is also serving as a translator at the Pacific Coast’s Association. He translates all of the Association’s monthly newsletters into English so that the large English-speaking audience would be able to know what is happening in the lives of the Association’s churches. God blessed Andrey with a wonderful family: his wife Irina and two children.
The ordination service went by very quickly. Besides the sermon and exhortation, there were choir performances and solo performances in the program. The head pastor, Igor Verstak is one of those who invests in discipling young ministers of the church. Praise God that He is calling the representatives of the second generation to active ministry in the Association’s Slavic churches.
