Today, we are experiencing some difficult times during which the circumstances of life carry us along at a rapid pace. We are in this race during which some couples get lost in the unending obligations of family life. At a certain point, the wives discover that there isn’t much time left for a meaningful conversation with their husbands, while the husbands notice that the family expenses exceed the income. All of a sudden, the children have grown up, and the parents need to focus on helping them in discovering their place in life. On top of that, there is a lack of trust in the medical doctors which compels many to study medicine. The social sites demand constant presence, and the new laws require more protection and oversite over the children. Under this scenario, the parents become bloggers, doctors, teachers, pastors, policemen, as well as taxi drivers for their children.
Unfortunately, many try to accomplish this enormous amount of work on a regular basis while not realizing why they are doing that. There are moments when the routine of the family ministry leads to disappointment, discontentment, and sometimes irritation at those whom they love. There comes a time when the truth of the Bible does not seem powerful enough to help them to bear the everyday burdens of life. The only attractive thought at the moment seems to be to leave everything and to move to a different place.
While looking at all the difficulties of the everyday routine of the parental obligations, , Word of Truth Bible Church had a family retreat on March 25-27 with the theme of “Seven principles of the Gospel-centered family Life”. While being in a peaceful setting outside, far from the business of the city life, the attendees had an opportunity to dive deep into the Book of Ephesians and to learn of the joyful and a happy Gospel-centered family that has the Gospel as the foundation. During this retreat we saw how new life that was given by God is evident in the relationships of spouses, as well as in the raising of children.
